Jesus’ words in John 4:35 ring out, “Wake up and look around, the fields are ripe for harvest!” It’s in response to this gospel imperative that preparations are well underway for Revive17 with our theme of “SEE: Local and Global”. Revive17 will feature Omar Djoeandy and Andrew Palmer alongside a great line-up of women and men who will faithfully challenge and encourage us from God’s word.
Seeing Local & Global is about sharing the love of Jesus with those close to home and those far away. Everywhere we look there are people crying out to God, longing for the piece (and the peace) that will make them whole again. There are so many opportunities for us to share Jesus with our families, our friends, our next door neighbours, and our sporting clubs. Revive17 is about seeing these opportunities afresh, both locally and globally
This focus on local and global mission is also providing opportunities for Churches like the one I serve in to integrate Revive17 into the plans for May Mission Month 2017. This will occur through encouraging our congregation to attend Revive17, but also to reflect on what they learn and come away challenged by sharing that journey in their small group meetings.
Revive17 will also be about gathering together of our family of Churches from across NSW and the ACT, taking the taking the time to centre our hearts on God and his Word, and celebrating His life and work in unity across our diverse movement. When I speak to many of those who attend Revive from year to year it is often the opportunity to catch up with friends and colleagues that has been a great encouragement to them.
We understand that while many desire to attend in person that for some this is just not physically possible. For this reason Revive16 saw the addition of several live stream Revive sites for some of our regional centres, and this was a great initiative for both mainstage and Youth night rallies. We’ll be seeking to expand this opportunity to some other key regional centres for next year, but are committed to maintaining that sense of gathered community which is a core value for Revive.
Finally, on behalf of the Revive Planning Committee and the Revive Board we would like to acknowledge and thank Kevin Warner for over a decade of service to the Revive movement. Kevin has been there since the beginning and has served in a number of roles supporting Revive’s development and working through challenges as they arose. Kevin stood down as Chair of the committee in September 2016 but remains as committed as ever to our gathering and seeing Revive flourish in this next season of growth and potential. Thanks again Kevin for your dedication to championing Revive and all those who have partnered in this gathering over many years.
In this new season for our Association of Churches we invite you to plan now to come together next May 19 & 20 at Dural and across NSW and the ACT as we link arms with others sharing in the exciting vision and future for our movement.
