The Association of Baptist Churches in NSW and ACT is seeking to discern God’s leading for the appointment of a Ministry Standards Manager. The role is responsible for overseeing the Associations Ministry Standards policies, including ‘Creating Safe Spaces’ and ‘Persons of Concern’.
The Ministry Standards Manager is 0.6 of a full time role and is responsible for providing procedural oversight of the implementation of Ministry Standards policies and practices adopted by the Assembly of the Association of Baptist Churches of NSW and ACT under the oversight of the Ministry Standards Committee. This position will be a resource to local churches in the delivery of safe ministry and professional standards for church leaders, including ministers. It will contribute to ensuring that ministry is accountable and transparent, that leaders run well-prepared and organised programs, that potential Workplace Health & Safety (WH&S) risks have been considered and addressed, that training is provided to ensure leaders know how to respond appropriately where an allegation is made against a person who is involved in an endorsed church ministry, as defined in the policies adopted by Assembly. This includes any allegation against pastors, especially allegations of sexual abuse or harassment, any allegation of inappropriate behaviour by a ministry leader, any matter where there is suspected child abuse or a Person of Concern may be involved, as defined by the relevant Baptist Association policy.
The Ministry Standards Manger also oversees the implementation of the ‘People of Concern’ and ‘Creating Safe Spaces’ policies.
